CASEMENT WINDOW

A casement window is hinged on one side and opens outward like a door, usually operated by a crank handle. This design lets the sash swing fully open, providing excellent ventilation—up to 100% of the opening—making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, or any spot where airflow matters. When closed, the sash presses tightly against the frame, creating a strong seal that improves energy efficiency and reduces drafts. Modern casement windows often feature double or triple glazing and low-E glass for added insulation. They also offer unobstructed views and enhanced security with hook-style locks embedded in the frame. The main downside is that the open sash projects outward, so it may interfere with nearby walkways or patios.
